چکیده

We suggest a new dimensionless relativistic invariant variable R = ∆mX/ν which may be interpreted as the ratio of the excitation energy to the full transferred energy; therefore this variable measures a ”degree of inelasticity” of the scattering. Existing data on the tensor analysing power of the p(~ d, d ′)X and 12C(~ d, d ′)X inelastic scattering at momenta from 4.2 to 9 GeV/c are analysed in terms of this variable. We observe that Ayy taken as a function of R does not depend upon the incident energy, the scattering angle (up to the angles of θcm ∼ 30◦); there is no noticeable difference between the proton and nuclear targets as well. It is remarkable that Ayy is maximal (of ∼ 0.5) when R ∼ 0.5−0.6 and is small in absolute value when R is close to its limiting values of 0 and 1. Key-words: inelastic scattering, tensor analysing power, scaling, proton, deuteron, carbon.

Calculation of the relativistic bulk tensor and shear tensor of relativistic accretion flows in the Kerr metric.

In this paper, we calculate the relativistic bulk tensor and shear tensor of the relativistic accretion ows in the Kerr metric, overall and without any approximation. We obtain the relations of all components of the relativistic bulk and shear tensor in terms of components of four-velocity and its derivatives, Christoffel symbols and metric components in the BLF. Then, these components are deri...

The neutron - proton charge - exchange amplitudes measured in the dp → ppn reaction

The unpolarised differential cross section and the two deuteron tensor analysing powers Axx and Ayy of the dp → {pp}sn charge-exchange reaction have been measured with the ANKE spectrometer at the COSY storage ring. Using deuteron beams with energies 1.2, 1.6, 1.8, and 2.27GeV, data were obtained for small momentum transfers to a {pp}s system with low excitation energy. The results at the three...

Spin Effects in Lepton-nucleon Scattering: a Theoretical Overview

The physics of polarized nucleons has received increasing interest in the past few years, as we had the opportunity to see during the Workshop. Experimental progress in this field has been impressive, and prospect for the next future are even more interesting. A description of the present status of the field on the experimental side is given in another chapter of these Proceedings; 1 here I wil...

Polarized deep-inelastic scattering from nuclei: A relativistic approach.

We discuss spin-dependent, deep-inelastic scattering from nuclei within a co-variant framework. In the relativistic impulse approximation this is described in terms of the amplitude for forward, virtual-photon scattering from an off-mass-shell nucleon. The general structure of the off-shell nucleon hadronic tensor is derived, and the leading behavior of the off-shell nucleon structure functions...

A new PWIA for scattering of multi-GeV electrons by nuclei

The cross section for electron scattering by nuclei at high momentum transfers, is calculated within a new version of the plane wave impulse approximation (PWIA). Binding effects on the struck nucleon are introduced through the relativistic mean field theory (MFT). The model naturally satisfies current conservation, since the response tensor for an off-shell nucleon has the same form of a free ...
